Beyond Tourism

I've been thinking about what we're really doing out here.
Yes, we run tours. Yes, we show people beautiful places. But that's not the whole story.
We're connecting people to country that many Australians have never experienced. We're supporting station families and local communities who don't always benefit from tourism. We're creating understanding between city and country, between travellers and locals.
Most importantly, we're showing that responsible tourism can be a force for good.
When our guests stay on working stations, they're contributing to properties that might otherwise struggle. When they buy art in Silverton, they're supporting artists who've chosen a different kind of life. When they share their experiences, they're changing perceptions about what the outback actually is.
This isn't mass tourism. It's not about moving crowds or maximising numbers. It's about creating connections that matter - between people and place, between past and present, between different ways of seeing the world.
Jonathan and I feel incredibly privileged to do this work. To live in this country, to share it respectfully, and to watch people fall in love with landscapes and communities that deserve to be celebrated.
The outback has given us so much. Through Overland Adventures and Tri State Safaris, we get to give something back.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you've travelled with us, are planning to, or just enjoy these stories from afar - you're helping us build something meaningful.
The outback is patient. It's been here for millions of years, and it'll be here long after we're gone.
Our job is just to make sure people understand how special it is while we're here to share it.
What legacy do you want to leave in the places you love?
With gratitude,
Janine

P.S. If any of these stories have sparked your curiosity about experiencing the outback properly, just reply. I'd love to hear what calls to you about this country, and help you find the right way to answer that call.
