After an unforgettable 2026 Mundi Mundi Bash, the Overland Adventures team is getting ready to return to the Mundi Mundi Plains in 2027.

The 2026 event will always be remembered as the “Muddy Mundi”. Rain transformed the usually dry outback landscape and created some incredibly challenging conditions. But it also showed us what the Mundi Mundi Bash is really about—mateship, resilience, live music and people coming together for a truly unique Australian experience.

Despite the rain and mud, our guests stayed warm, comfortable and well looked after at the Overland Adventures campsite.

We learned a great deal from the experience and will be taking those lessons into our hosted Mundi Mundi Bash 2027 camping packages.

What happened at the 2026 Mundi Mundi Bash?

The rain arrived, the desert turned green and the Mundi Mundi Plains became wet and muddy.

Access conditions changed quickly. Moving vehicles, tents, bedding, food and equipment became much harder than expected, while unreliable connectivity created additional challenges for our campsite and food van teams.

Through it all, the Bash went ahead—and so did we.

Our team worked tirelessly to keep the Overland Adventures campsite operating. We maintained the fires, cooked breakfasts, prepared meals and made sure our guests had somewhere comfortable to return to after each day at the festival.

There was something very special about sitting around a roaring campfire, sharing stories and warming up after a muddy day on the Plains.

A comfortable way to experience the Mundi Mundi Bash

Our hosted Mundi Mundi Bash camping packages are designed for people who want the experience without having to transport and set up an entire campsite.

Rather than arriving with a vehicle full of tents, beds, bedding, chairs, cooking equipment and camping supplies, our guests arrive at a campsite that has already been prepared for them.

Depending on the package selected, the Overland Adventures Mundi Mundi Bash experience may include:

  • A tent set up before you arrive

  • Comfortable beds and selected bedding

  • Broken Hill transfers

  • Daily breakfast

  • Chairs, trolley and esky

  • Ice and drinking water

  • Camp kitchen facilities

  • Phone-charging facilities

  • Wi-Fi where conditions allow

  • A communal campfire

  • A hosted group environment

  • Selected meals during the Bash

Package inclusions can vary, so guests should check the complete details before booking.

What makes an Overland Adventures Bash package different?

Overland Adventures is a locally operated Broken Hill tour and transport business.

We understand the outback, the distances involved and the practical challenges of attending a major event on the Mundi Mundi Plains. Our packages combine prepared camping facilities with local support, transport and genuine country hospitality.

It is more than simply hiring a tent.

Our guests have a hosted base where they can relax, make new friends and enjoy some of the comforts that are often missing from festival camping.

We take care of much of the preparation so our guests can concentrate on enjoying the music, the outback sunsets and the atmosphere of Australia’s biggest outback music festival.

What did we learn from the Muddy Mundi?

Every year, we review our complete operation—from the campsite layout and guest transfers to catering, communication and emergency planning.

The conditions in 2026 gave us more lessons than most.

We learned where we need stronger wet-weather contingencies, how we can improve the movement and protection of equipment, and which supplies become essential when the weather changes unexpectedly.

We are using those lessons to strengthen our planning for the 2027 Mundi Mundi Bash.

The outback will always be unpredictable, and no operator can control the weather. What we can control is how thoroughly we prepare, how quickly we adapt and how we support our guests when conditions change.

Our first Mundi Mundi Bash food van

The 2026 Bash was also the first time we operated the Overland Café food van at the festival.

We served barista-made coffee, bacon and egg rolls, bakery favourites, soup, sourdough, cakes and country-style food.

Operating a food van at a remote outback festival was a major undertaking. The rain, mud, reduced passing trade and unreliable internet made our first year financially challenging, but it was also an invaluable learning experience.

We now have a much better understanding of festival stock levels, staffing, equipment, service flow and the importance of planning for circumstances well beyond our control.

Sometimes the greatest value of a new venture is what it teaches you—and 2026 certainly taught us plenty.

Thank you to our guests and team

An experience of this size cannot happen without an enormous team effort.

Our Mundi Mundi Bash campsite requires tents, beds, linen, trailers, gazebos, kitchen equipment, firewood, food, water, vehicles and countless other supplies.

In 2026, much of that equipment had to be moved, protected and packed down in wet and muddy conditions.

We are incredibly grateful to our staff, volunteers, drivers, cooks, baristas, suppliers, friends and family who helped us before, during and after the event.

We also want to thank every guest who stayed with us. Your patience, encouragement and sense of humour meant more than you may realise.

People often arrive at our campsite as strangers, but after a few days of breakfasts, campfires, music and shared experiences, many leave as friends.

  • Solo travellers

  • Couples and friends travelling together
